Proportional method: each implied probability divided by the sum. Power and Shin methods put a little more of the margin on longshots.

Educational tool. Bandwagon does not take or place wagers. Results are arithmetic on the numbers you enter, not advice.

How the vig Calculator works

The vig (juice) is the bookmaker's margin. Convert each side's price to an implied probability and add them: the amount over 100% is the overround. The hold is the share of money staked that the book keeps if stakes follow the prices: 1 − 1 / sum.

To remove the vig, divide each implied probability by the sum, which scales the probabilities back to 100%. The fair odds are 1 / that probability. This proportional method is the one Bandwagon's Markets pages use for prediction-market prices.

Other methods spread the margin differently: the power and Shin methods put more of it on longshots. The results are close for a near-even market, such as −110 / −110.

−110 on both sides gives implied probabilities of 52.38% each, a total of 104.76%, an overround of 4.76 points and a hold of 4.55%. Without the vig it is 50.00% each, fair odds of +100.

Vig Calculator questions

What is the vig on −110?

A −110 / −110 market has a 4.76% overround, which is a hold of about 4.55% of what is staked.

Are vig and juice the same thing?

Yes. Both mean the bookmaker's built-in margin.

How do I find no-vig odds?

Divide each side's implied probability by the sum of both, then convert back to odds.

Can I use this for a three-way market?

Yes. Add the draw in the third box.
